The South Caucasus Peaceful Neighbourhood Initiative, a dialogue platform for normalisation of relations in the region and cooperation in mutually beneficial areas of economy, trade and culture was discussed on Saturday in a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Garibashvili welcomed an upcoming meeting between Bayramov and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, set to be hosted in Tbilisi, and expressed hope for successful talks and “positive dynamics" in the dialogue between countries. 

Bayramov highlighted the “personal efforts” of Garibashvili as a “successful mediator” in the Armenia-Azerbaijan mediation, The Georgian Government Administration said.

The officials also reviewed existing "strategic" partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, including in transport and energy. They also discussed the current “challenging” situation in the Black Sea region.

In the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their “firm” support to sovereignty and territorial integrity of both Georgia and Azerbaijan.
