3% of Georgian population fully vaccinated as of July 8

In total, 111,589 people (or 3% of total population) are fully vaccinated and 283,631 people (or 7.6% of total population) have received one dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Georgia as of July 8, announces Georgia's National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Head of the NCDC Amiran Gamkrelidze said that today the supply of the vaccine is three times more than the demand for it.
Currently about 100,000 places are free and only 35,000 are booked on the Covid-19 vaccination registration website. We call on the population to be more active", said Gamkrelidze.
Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said that the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine is the most in demand in Georgia and having this in mind 'we will move on to a wider Pfizer vaccination campaign'.
However, according to her, people should not lose time in waiting for the Pfizer vaccine as Sinovac, Sinopharm and AstraZeneca vaccines are 'highly effective' as well.
Georgia started coronavirus vaccination in mid-March when the country received 43,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.
In addition to AstraZeneca, the country is currently using Sinovac, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines for certain groups of individuals.
Georgia has received 5,000 doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines gifted by Austria earlier today.
The Georgian Ministry of Health webpage for Covid-19 vaccination registration, booking.moh.gov.ge, which was disabled disabled following a cyber attack yesterday, is now back online.

Georgia has reported 1,364 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting a total of 33,629 tests over the last 24 hours. Out of the 1,364 new cases 811 were reported in Tbilisi.
