Tbilisi TV Tower, Bridge of Peace illuminated in EU flag colours marking Europe Day

Tbilisi’s hilltop TV tower overlooking Georgia’s capital Tbilisi and the Bridge of Peace are on Thursday illuminated in the colours of the European Union flag to mark Europe Day, the Tbilisi City Hall said.
The City Hall joined the celebration of Europe Day by saying “Georgia is part of Europe”.
The Schuman Declaration, signed on 9th May 1950, laid the foundation for the establishment of the EU, the body added.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said he was convinced that by 2030, Georgia would achieve full European Union membership , in his message on the annual Europe Day.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday marked the annual Europe Day by expressing his belief the country would “soon join the [European Union] formed by a unity of values”.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday marked the annual Europe Day by saying the future of the country “belongs in the European Union”.
Paweł Herczyński, the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, on Thursday said the bloc wanted Georgia with its “unique culture and traditions” to become a part of “our European Union family”.
