A 50-year-old individual infected with coronavirus has been fined by police for violating self-isolation rules in Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the individual tested positive for the virus on January 4 and was told to self-isolate.
The Georgian citizen was fined 2,000 GEL while driving in a car and was placed under mandatory quarantine in a Covid-hotel.
Police have fined a total of 814 individuals for coronavirus-related violations over the past 24 hours in Georgia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on the citizens to adhere to the restrictions.
Over 31,000 facilities have been inspected and 27 fined for violating coronavirus safety regulations between November 28 and December 13 across the country, the Labor Conditions Inspecting Department reports.
A taxi driver and his accomplice - both infected with coronavirus - have been fined by police for violating self-isolation rules. The Georgian Interior Ministry reported yesterday that the two individuals were fined while travelling on a car at Abashidze street in Tbilisi on December 4.
Over the last 24 hours the Georgian Interior Ministry has registered 1,028 cases of the coronavirus regulations which were introduced on November 26 to curb the spread of Covid-19 across the country.
Georgian police have detained a former officer for taking two people hostage in Kaspi Municipality in Georgia’s Shida Kartli region. The individual, identified only as G.M. and born in 1993, had quit his post back in 2018.
