Libertarian Girchi party has raffled off a Porsche car purchased with state funding. An official statement released by the party reads that the owner of the car became Juba Grigolia.
Before the 2020 parliamentary elections Girchi politicians promised that they would raffle off a Tesla car for those who registered on the party’s portal before October 31. Girchi said it would purchase the car with state funding which the party would receive after entering parliament.
As we [Girchi members] could not find a high-quality Tesla car on Georgian market, we purchased Porsche’, said Girchi.
Girchi member Herman Szabo said that as the party is waiting to receive about 3 million GEL by the end of 2024 from the state budget, the party will be able to purchase minimum 10 cars for the next raffles.
The party says that the goal of the initiative is to encourage voters to participate in elections.
Zurab Japaridze, one of the founders of the libertarian Girchi party, has announced the creation of a new party - More Freedom-Girchi, by the end of the month, following controversies with several fellow members of the party.
