Georgia’s Black Sea region of Adjara has increased testing in the region following several infections in a night club in Kobuleti on August 15.
Starting August 21, two testing tents were opened on Batumi Boulevard, while another was set up in Kobuleti Park near the seaside where the public can freely receive PCR coronavirus tests.
214 people in Batumi and Kobuleti have gone through voluntary testing at these locations in the last four days, says the Health Ministry of Adjara region. All the results were negative.
Moreover, the staff of open air cafes, nightclubs and bungalows located on the seaside are being actively tested; 157 employees have already been tested for the virus and their results were also negative.
The decision to extend coronavirus testing after an employee at Havana Club in Kobuleti tested positive for the virus on August 15. Five others later tested positive and their cases were linked to Havana Club.
Extended testing for coronavirus in Adjara will continue until the end of the tourist season.
The testing process is being carried out from 5 pm to 10 pm.
Individuals who will be tested for the coronavirus will get results within 24 hours if they test positive”, says the ministry.
Georgia has reported eight new cases of coronavirus today, out of which four are from Adjara.
Two new patients contracted the virus from Kobuleti as they were in contact with infected individuals from Havana Club in Kobuleti, while two are truck drivers.
