Georgia reports 13 new coronavirus cases, 1 recovery

Thirteen more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Georgia increasing the number of total confirmed cases to 864.
Meanwhile, with one more recovery, the number of recovered individuals has increased to 703.
As of now, 147 individuals remain infected with coronavirus in the country.
State and health officials call on citizens to demonstrate even more public responsibility in their daily activities as the country has ten infected individuals whose source of infection has not been identified so far.
Recommendations include maintaining social distancing, using face masks indoors and in public transport, observing the rules of personal and public hygiene, working remotely and avoiding public gatherings.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said the country is “a green island of peace in terms of containing the coronavirus pandemic. However, to preserve this, all citizens must demonstrate even more public responsibility in their daily activities. As of June 13, Georgia has confirmed a total of 851 cases of COVID-19, including the eight new cases.
Municipal transport, recreation zones, restaurants to be under strict control to avoid more coronavirus-related cases in the country, the Georgian government’s press office reports.

Individuals will be fined 20 GEL (about $6.6/€5.8) for not wearing face masks in closed public areas, public transport and taxis starting today.
