Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said the country is “a green island of peace in terms of containing the coronavirus pandemic. However, to preserve this, all citizens must demonstrate even more public responsibility in their daily activities.
PM Gakharia met with the Georgian citizens who were brought back from different coronavirus-hit areas in the world since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani also attended the meeting:

During the meeting yesterday, he underscored that everyone should be united in the fight against COVID-19. Gakharia added that ‘it is impossible for a single country to defeat the pandemic’ because this is a global challenge.
We should not think that we have won and the battle is over. This is not that simple – the less attentive we become, the faster the virus will spread”, Gakhkaria said.
He also noted that since the economic and mobility restrictions have been lifted, the number of new cases of the coronavirus has increased.
Wherever it is possible to work remotely, we should be remotely. Wherever no large social gatherings are necessary, we should avoid such gatherings”, he added.
Calling on the citizens to be more careful and more prepared, Gakharia said everyone should follow the recommendations, including on the use of face masks and maintaining social distancing. Otherwise, the government might reimpose restrictions.
As of June 13, Georgia has confirmed a total of 851 cases of COVID-19, including the eight new cases. Meanwhile, with five new recoveries, the number of recovered individuals has increased to 702.
