Georgia will compensate people who lost their jobs while on leave due to pregnancy, childbirth, childcare or adoption of a child amid the coronavirus crisis.
These people will receive 200 GEL ($62.5/€57) a month for six months.
To receive the compensation, an individual must have received a salary in at least one of the first three months of 2020, moreover, an individual’s contract must have been terminated by June 1, 2020 and they must not have received a salary afterwards.
The former employer must confirm the above conditions about the employee.
The Georgian government presented a coronavirus anti-crisis plan on April 24 in which it announced support for people who lost their jobs amid the coronavirus outbreak.
People who lost their jobs because of the coronavirus crisis or are on unpaid leave will receive 1,200 GEL ($374.9/€341.7) over the course of six months, which is 200 GEL ($62.5/€57) per month. This assistance will apply to 350,000 citizens of Georgia. For this reason, a total of 460 million GEL ($143.7 mln/€131 mln) is allocated from the budget.
