Lentekhi municipality in the western Georgian region of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti has been placed under “strict quarantine” after four locals tested positive for the coronavirus.
Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s spokesperson Irakli Chikovani announced yesterday that given the full quarantine, local residents will be able to go out only to buy food or medicines, or receive medical care.
Local self-government and medical personnel are carrying out proactive thermal screening of population. Each individual will be screened and [cases of infection] will be identified", Chikovani stated.
Locals will also be able to carry out agricultural works in line with strict rules. However, no one will be allowed to enter or leave the municipality.

Similar restrictions have been applied to Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia, which remain under lockdown since March 23.
As of now, Georgia has confirmed a total of 233 cases of COVID-19, including 54 recoveries and three deaths.
