A taste of Georgia at top New York food show

Leading Georgian food and beverage purveyors have showcased some of the country’s greatest traditional products to specialty international food manufacturers and buyers at a prestigious food trade show in New York.

For three days Georgian companies introduced in innovative way to introduce the flavours of traditional Georgian food to food connoisseurs at The Summer Fancy Food Show 2015.

New York hosted the food show on June 28, 29 and 30, which featured more than 180,000 products, 25,000 buyers, and 2,500 exhibitors from around the globe.

At the Georgian stand guests could learn more about Georgian juices, tea, nuts and other locally produced products. Several companies including Aromaproduct, Kula, Geoplant, Georgian Products Renaissance and Campa took part in the trade show.

Georgia’s Economy Ministry said the show was "very fruitful” for Georgian companies, as they were able to establish contacts with foreign companies and importers.

Within the show the Entrepreneurship Development Agency of the Economy Ministry ran the Georgian stand, which had a qualified consultant who introduced Georgian products potential importers, buyers, distributors and representatives of global supermarket chains.

During the three-day show each Georgian company managed to hold about 50 meetings with various companies, such as Walmart, Sam’s Club, Trader Joe’s, TJX Companies, Fine Foods, Costco Wholesale, Whole Foods and more.

From this, the Entrepreneurship Development Agency planned a number of business-to-business meetings for Georgian export companies for 2016 and beyond.
