Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Thursday said the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Hungary was “crucial” in light of the latter’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union.

In her comments over Kobakhidze’s visit to Budapest where he delivered a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Botchorishvili emphasised that Hungary’s presidency in the EU would be a “very important” period for Georgia’s integration into the bloc.

The Georgian PM also held a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán earlier today, where the officials discussed “friendly relations” between the two countries and emphasised the “positive results” achieved in recent years in terms of the partnership.
