Georgian delegation promotes country’s film industry at meetings with int’l companies at Berlinale

Members of the Georgian delegation at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival are holding meetings with representatives of international companies to promote the country’s film industry, the Culture Ministry said on Saturday.

The delegation, led by Koba Khubunaia, the Acting Director of the Georgian National Film Centre, including Georgian directors and producers, discussed the film financing and opportunities of receiving funding from the Doha Film Institute at the meeting with Khalil Benkirane, the head of grants of the Institute.

The meeting was also held with Clémence Michallon, the representative of the international marketplace and community for the documentary -  Sunny Side of the Doc, where the sides discussed the possibilities of organising a Georgian stand at the film market to promote Georgian producers and directors at the event.

 

 

The Georgian delegation and Roberto Cueto, the representative of the San Sebastian International Film Festival’s Selection Commission reviewed the completed Georgian films and discussed current projects to be presented at the festival.

Georgian Film Centre is participating in Berlinale from February 15 to February 25, showcasing a Georgian stand at the European Film Market, highlighting the rich heritage of Georgian cinema, presenting new projects and promoting the country as a leader for filmmaking in Eastern Europe.
