Irakli Garibashvili, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday announced he would launch holding meetings in the country’s regions starting next month, in the run-up to the general elections set for October.

Garibashvili said he was planning to visit 10 regions of the country over the next 100 days.

I am going to meet representatives of our party, heads of regional organisations and citizens, in order to learn about their needs on the ground”, he said.

The party official said the meetings would be used for election campaign preparations, and added the ruling party’s “declared goal” was to get “maximum results” in the vote, which he said required the party to “mobilise our resources to the maximum”.
