The current agenda of bilateral relations and cooperation in international formats were discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide.

Eide reiterated Norway's “strong support” for Georgia's foreign policy priorities, the Georgian foreign office said.

The meeting highlighted that Norway was “one of the strong supporters” of Georgia on its path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and noted the support would be maintained, for which Darchiashvili thanked his counterpart.

The officials welcomed the cooperation developed between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral formats in recent years, which they said was based on “mutual respect, common interests and values”.

“We welcomed the positive dynamics of the longstanding cooperation and focused on opportunities for deepening relations between our countries. I expressed gratitude for Norway's firm support for Georgia's foreign policy priorities”, the visiting Georgian official said in a social media message.

The meeting “positively” assessed the political dialogue established between the two countries, and highlighted the necessity of exchanging high-level visits.

Darchiashvili informed his Norwegian counterpart about challenges in the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia and thanked him for Norway's “steadfast” support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
