Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency launched a grant programme, funded by the German Government and implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation, which aims to promote the digital transformation of small and medium enterprises through research and development, the Agency said on Wednesday.

The programme, which is part of the German project - Digital Transformation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Eastern Partnership countries, includes creating new solutions and improving existing ones through research and development grants, with a total budget of $100,000 for this component.

It also involves the establishment of a unified platform for the Georgian startup ecosystem, which will allow all interested parties to learn about the innovative solutions created in the country.

Within the programme, workshops among stakeholders and education events for the beneficiaries are also intended to be held, as well as masterclasses from local and international experts for GITA employees to raise their qualifications in the digital transformation field.

The country’s tech agency said the project was implemented within the scope of the agreement signed between the Georgian and German governments on December 12, 2022.
