Georgia’s culinary attractions are showcased in Madrid Fusión, a gastronomy fair in the Spanish capital, under the Guest Country status between Monday and Wednesday, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Tuesday.

The Georgian stand features food, wine and tourist products, with “Show Kitchen” also integrated in the national stand.

The Administration said chef Davit Narimanashvili and the Madrid-based restaurant Nunuka would present the country’s cuisine, while Shalva Khetsuriani, the Chair of the Association of Sommeliers of Georgia, were introducing the “centuries-old history” of Georgian wine at the event.

Master classes on Georgian dishes and wine tasting are hosted on the main stage of the fairgrounds, with the highlights hosted at the event alongside culinary attractions from countries ranging from Switzerland to Argentina and Colombia to South Korea.

In comments on anticipated outcomes of the event, Maia Omiadze, the Head of the Administration, said the country’s participation in Madrid Fusión would contribute to establishing business ties between tourism insiders and promoting Georgia as a visitor destination.

She also said she was confident the representation would be “very successful” and attract “many” international travellers to the country.

Omiadze said the Administration was joined at the event by the Adjara Tourism Department of the western region and private sector companies from Georgia.
