Two arrested for selling fake IDs to foreign citizens in Georgia’s west

Two individuals have been arrested and charged with forgery of identification documents in western Georgia’s Samegrelo region, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia said on Wednesday.

The body said the offenders had produced and sold fake ID cards to foreign citizens through their office for tourist services, receiving €800 for the service in one instance.

Investigators also found forged passports of dozens of foreign citizens and driving licences of Georgian nationals in possession of the group.

The crime is punishable by three to six years in prison.
