Foreign defence attachés accredited in Georgia visited the Cybersecurity Bureau of the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday, as part of the state agency’s annual plan to introduce reforms under the Ministry and future prospects to dignitaries.
Luka Mgeladze, the Director of the Bureau, welcomed the foreign diplomats and provided them with comprehensive information on the agency’s goals, the press office of the Defence Ministry said.
Achievements and future plans and reforms for the Bureau were also summarised by the Georgian official for the visiting attachés.
In order to ensure the consistent and continuous development of the Georgian army, a higher defence budget has been outlined for the coming year. The parliamentary committee on defence and security discussed the 2022 state budget today.The 2022 budget to be distributed among defence agencies is as follows:Ministry of Defence - 918 million GEL (900 million GEL in 2021)Ministry of Internal Affairs - 800 million GEL (790 million GEL in 2021).
Georgia is celebrating the founding day of its Defence Ministry on September 9. Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze has announced that the ministry’s employees and defence forces’ military servicemen with 25 or more years of service were awarded cash prizes on the occasion of the anniversary.
Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze has presented a 10-year economic development plan which covers five major priorities: anti-armor, air, artillery, reconnaissance and engineering capabilities. He said that the plan is based on threats that Georgia may face in 2030 and the goal is to ensure the consistent and continuous development of the Georgian army in order to obtain high combat capability to cope with the challenges facing Georgia as well as to contribute to global security.
The Cyber Security Bureau of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia has become a full member of the Multinational Malware Information Sharing Platform (MISP), which is a NATO-endorsed smart defence initiative, reports the Ministry of Defence.
The Cyber Security Bureau of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia claimed third place in Locked Shields 2022, a cybersecurity training organised by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, on Tuesday.
