Foreign dignitaries congratulate Georgian’s new Foreign Minister on appointment

Georgia’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili received messages of congratulation from foreign dignitaries on Thursday, with ministers, diplomats and heads of state agencies from Georgia’s partner states wishing the official success in the new position. 

Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Secretary General of Council of Europe, and Altai Efendiev, the Secretary General of the Regional International Organization for Democracy and Economic Development,  were among those who congratulated Darchiashvili.

"We are confident that your extensive professional experience and deep knowledge will best serve the national interests of Georgia in a time full of these challenges," GUAM Secretary General Altai Efendiev wrote in a letter to the newly appointed Minister,  Georgia’s Foreign Ministry said.

In their messages, the officials expressed solidarity with Georgia in the context of regional security challenges amid the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Darchiashvili also received congratulations from his Ukrainian, Armenian, Moldovan, Turkish,  Azerbaijani and Greek colleagues, who expressed readiness to continue close diplomatic cooperation with Georgia and further strengthen relations to ensure regional peace and stability.
