A total of 20,000 vacancies were announced as the new Government-initiated public employment programme launched on Monday, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili revealed at the weekly Government meeting.
Garibashvili said 3,000 out of about 15,000 applicants had already been employed as part of the launch of the initiative that aims to offer jobs to up to 200,000 citizens eventually.
Government agencies and local self-government bodies are offering employment as part of the programme to socially vulnerable individuals aged 18 and above fit for work.
Interested citizens are asked to apply at the service centres of the State Agency for Social Service or State Employment, or call a dedicated hotline through the number 15 05.
Formally initiated in March, the programme is launched with the aim of offering jobs to citizens currently receiving social assistance from the state. Those joining the programme will keep the socially underprivileged status for four years and receive their monthly allowance.
