Georgia reports 897 new cases of coronavirus of 24,592 tests

Georgia has reported 897 new cases of coronavirus, 196 recoveries and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours.
24,592 tests have been conducted around the country in the past 24 hours.18,536 of the 24,592 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 6,056 were PCR tests.
The country has had 284,958 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
275,220 of the 284,958 patients have recovered, while 3,832 have died from the virus.
Currently 5,880 individuals remain infected with Covid-19.

The new 897 cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 463 cases
- Adjara - 83 cases
- Imereti - 88 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 41 cases
- Shida Kartli - 32 cases
- Guria - 31 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 96 cases
- Kakheti - 19 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 24 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 1 case
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 19 cases

1,892 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 357 of the 1,892 patients are in critical condition. 62 of the 357 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
9,857 individuals are in self-isolation.
More than 3,522,000 tests have been conducted in the country so far.
Georgian health officials have warned of a potential third wave of coronavirus in the country if individuals refuse to receive the vaccine and act in line with recommendations.
The Chinese government will gift Georgia 100,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine in April, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today. Georgia received 100,000 doses of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine last week and the country has plans to purchase the Chinese Sinovac vaccine in April, Gamkrelidze said. He stated that both vaccines are likely to be approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in mid-April and Georgia will launch vaccination only after.
Georgia has confirmed 464 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting 7,647 PCR tests and 8,002 rapid tests over the last 24 hours. As of now the number of total confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Georgia since last February has increased to 283,833.
Georgia has received the 100,000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine earlier today. However, Sinopharm vaccination will not start until it received approval from the World Health Organisation.
