The number of internet subscribers has increased to almost one million in Georgia in 2020, announces the Communication Commission of Georgia.
The number of subscribers in the fixed internet market is still growing dynamically and the annual growth rate for individual subscribers over the last three years is 14%. Out of 998,000 subscribers, 950,000 households use the fixed internet, thus increasing the internet penetration, which has reached 86%", says the commission.
84% of fixed internet subscribers use finer-optic internet.
"Georgia is ahead of the top 28 European countries in terms of optical internet usage - the analysis was made by the international organisation FTTH Council, which is studying the development of the optical network in Europe. According to the latest report of the organisation, in 2019 the average penetration of fiber optic technology in 28 European countries was 43.3%, while in Georgia it was 67%", says the commission.
