About 500 artists in the electronic and club music industry will receive financial assistance from Tbilisi City Hall, which has allocated 2 million GEL in order to help industry players overcome the Covid-19 crisis.
At today's government meeting Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said that the pandemic had affected all sectors of the economy, including 'one of the most prominent' areas of the culture and creative industries - electronic music and club culture.
It was the industry that first was closed due to a pandemic and has not been functioning for a year. This is a serious problem. There are too many people employed in this industry and families are behind them. They need help and support. This is an area that has made our capital, Europe and the world famous, attracting lots of tourists", said Kaladze.
At the first stage musicians, artists and technical staff will receive financial assistance, said Kaladze.
He also said that taking the epidemiological situation into account it is expected the industry will restore its activities this summer.
