Over 53 thousand Georgian citizens registered for seasonal employment in Germany

Georgia is the first country with which Germany has started working in this direction.

Within the last 24 hours, over 53,000 Georgian citizens have registered for the seasonal employment program in Germany, reports the State Employment Promotion Agency.

Registration for the program started on February 15 and will continue throughout the year on the website https://workabroad.moh.gov.ge .

Georgian citizens will be able to find temporary legal employment in German labor market for a maximum of 90 days

Seasonal works in the agricultural sector will start in April 2021 in Germany.

Applicants for seasonal work should meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a Georgian citizen from 18 to 60 years;
  • An individual must not have visited the Schengen area for three months before leaving for Germany;
  • Should be physically healthy;
  • Should have work experience;
  • Mustn’t have any violation that restricts re-entry into the country;
  • Should know basic German or English  (the language requirement is determined by employers).

Georgia is the first country with which Germany has started working in this direction.

The seasonal employment program was supposed to start in 2020, though was temporarily delayed due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze  said on February 11 that the Georgian government is negotiating with Bulgaria, Israel and France to implement similar seasonal employment programs in the coming future.
