The opposition United National Movement (UNM) party members claim the ruling Georgian Dream party is bribing voters ahead of local self-government elections and filed a lawsuit against the party.
The opposition leaders said that they have audio and video footage that proves the crime, noting that in Georgia there is ‘selective justice.’
The head of the UNM party in Ozurgeti Davit Mjavanadze said that three days have passed since the voters’ bribery took place in Ozurgeti municipality and ‘the prosecutor's office has not done anything,’ Mjavanadze noted.
The Georgian Dream party in turn denies the accusations and says that ‘there was no distribution of funds and voters’ bribery at the Georgian Dream headquarters’ in Ozurgeti municipality.
The upcoming local municipal elections in Georgia will take place on October 2.
The official pre-election campaign of the local elections started on August 3.
