Doctors from the Republic of Bashkiria (a federal subject of Russia) will help doctors in Georgia’s Russia-occupied Abkhazia region to treat COVID-19 patients, reports apsnypress, the de-facto state press of Abkhazia.
Apsnypress reports that the Health Ministry of Russia has asked the Bashkir doctors to arrive in the occupied Abkhazia region. The medics will stay there for 21 days.
Georgia’s Russia-occupied Abkhazia confirmed 46 new cases of coronavirus on September 27.
The de-facto ministry of health says that as of now 117 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 are being treated at Gudauta Infectious Diseases Hospital.
The health condition of 14 patients is critical.
Since April 7 Abkhazia has had 1,332 cases of coronavirus, out of which 400 patients have already recovered.
Nine individuals have died of the virus in the region.
