A total of 265 hospitals with 17,500 beds were in operation in Georgia in 2019, while the number of beds reached 16,000 in 2018, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The average use of one hospital bed amounted to 4.9 days, while patient beds had an occupancy rate of just under half a year at 179.5 days.

Also, the number of medical personnel increased by 8.8 per cent in 2019 compared to 2018 and reached 19,613.
In 2019, the number of registered cases of diseases diagnosed for the first time decreased by 11 per cent compared to previous year. During the last ten years this indicator reached a maximum level in 2015, said Geostat.
