Fines for violating parking rules increase in Tbilisi

Fines for violating parking rules in the capital city of Tbilisi are increasing and the rules are being made stricter, announces Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.

Mayor Kaladze said that as part of the transport policy and parking reform, Tbilisi City Hall has prepared a legislative package which the parliament of Georgia has already approved.

Under the amendments:

  • Fines will increase to 50 GEL from 10 GEL for parking vehicles in places designated for category A taxis
  • Fines will increase to 50 GEL from 10 GEL for parking vehicles in places designated for electric cars
  • Fines will increase to 100 GEL from 50 GEL for parking vehicles 'for months' in certain parking areas across the city; in case of repeated violations, fines will be doubled and become 200 GEL
  • Drivers will be able to leave vehicles on the road for only three months, in case of parking for more time the owner of the car will be fined with 50 GEL.

Kaladze added that if a fined individual pays a fine for violating the parking rules within 10 calendar days, the amount of the fine will be reduced by 20 per cent.
