Coronavirus: 589 total confirmed cases, 215 recoveries, 8 deaths

Georgia has seven new cases of coronavirus increasing the total number of cases to 589. 

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries has increased to 215 as eight infected individuals have recovered.

As of now, there are 364 infected individuals in Georgia; eight people have died.

Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze said 12.7 percent of infected individuals in Georgia are health workers. 

Calling on them to take care and follow all of the recommendations precisely, Gamkrelidze said health workers are ‘on the frontline’ now. 

In every battle, will it be a real war with weapons, or the one against the coronavirus, unfortunately we - health workers - represent the vulnerable part of the population”, Gamkrelidze said. 

One ambulance doctor has recently tested positive for COVID-19 in the eastern Georgian region of Kakheti, making it the first case of the coronavirus in the region.

Earlier, nine ambulance doctors tested positive in the quarantined Marneuli municipality in eastern Georgia, while 21 infected ambulance doctors are from Bolnisi municipality.
