A baby has been born in Marneuli Municipality in eastern Georgia, which has been under quarantine for the second week now.
The young family living in the village of Kesalo, did not have a child for eight years.

The woman had a premature birth during the state of emergency and delivered a baby at one of the maternity hospitals. However, the newborn had to stay under medical supervision longer than the mother.
As the family could not leave the municipality due to the quarantine restrictions, the healthcare officials have delivered them the baby at the checkpoint.

Only local residents are allowed to enter the municipality, however they are not allowed to leave the area to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Georgia’s Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili has stated that products that are brought from Marneuli and Bolnisi quarantine zones in the country's east are ‘absolutely safe and harmless’ in terms of spread of the new coronavirus – COVID-19.

The two municipalities have more than 158,000 people total.How the woman contracted the virus is as of yet unknown. Her health condition is critical.
Four more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Georgia increasing the total number of cases to 174. As of now, a total of 36 individuals have recovered since February 26, two have died.
The number of cases of coronavirus has reached 188 in Georgia as of the morning of April 6.36 of the 188 have recovered, while two elderly women, with several underlying health issues have died.148 people inside the country remain infected with the virus (two of the 188 were foreign citizens who left Georgia last month). 5,056 are under quarantine and 386 others are in hospitals.
