The United States Embassy to Georgia salutes Georgian emergency medical personnel, who are “at the front lines” of the struggle against the new coronavirus.
Today, we salute Georgian emergency medical personnel, who are often the first to respond when we are ill or injured. They are at the front lines of the struggle against COVID-19, and we are grateful for all they are doing”, the Embassy stated.
Stressing that “battling COVID-19 requires many skills and talents”, the Embassy expressed its gratitude to those “who are helping to keep us safe and healthy”.
The US Government is providing $1.1 million assistance to Georgia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of now, Georgia has 117 confirmed COVID-19, including 23 recovered individuals.
Two more people have tested positive for COVID-19 increasing the number of total confirmed cases to 117. Meanwhile, the number of recovered individuals has increased to 23, which means that there are a total of 92 individuals inside the country who are still infected with the virus.
There are about forty fever clinics throughout the country which are ready to treat patients, said Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia earlier today. Gabunia noted that many hospitals in the regions had refused to accept patients with fever. She added that the hospitals which can take in patients with fever have already been identified in the regions.
24 ‘online clinics’ are ready to provide services to patients with fever and respiratory symptoms, said Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia earlier today. The online clinics are call-centres where patients can be given consultation by doctors.
A total of 2 billion GEL (about $0.60b/€0.55b) has been allocated to assist the Georgian economy in the tough period caused by the coronavirus global crisis, announces Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
Local strands of the new coronavirus, discovered in patients in Georgia, are now part of a global database of genotypes of the COVID-19, allowing professionals to trace their development.
US Senator David Perdue says support for Georgia’s national interests and security issues will be reflected on a legislative level, namely in the National Defense Authorization Act, which Perdue named as ‘demonstration of the strong bipartisan support Georgia enjoys in US Congress’.
