Acclaimed Georgian film director Zaza Urushadze dies at 53

Internationally recognised Georgian film director Zaza Urushadze passed away yesterday at the age of 53.

His Georgian war time drama Tangerines has been submitted for the Best Foreign-Language Film Race at the Oscars – the world’s most prestigious ceremony honouring cinematic achievements in the film industry.

The director of the Oscar-shortlisted film, became an official member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2015.

One of his recent features The Confession produced together with Estonian producer Ivo Felt – has been a continuation of the collaboration on Tangerines.
