NBCUniversal visits Georgia to study country’s filming opportunities

One of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies, NBCUniversal, has come to Georgia to study the country’s filming capacity and opportunities.
Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze welcomed the company’s employees today.
NBCUniversal operates a portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, television production operations, a leading television stations group, world-renowned theme parks and a suite of Internet-based businesses.

Company employees also visited different locations in Georgia to find out about other filming opportunities.
Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said the Georgian government welcomes collaboration with the company.
The history of NBUniversal stretches back to the early years of the 20th Century when NBC and Universal launched motion picture production and distribution and various entertaining businesses. It had about 62,000 employees in total in 2017.
Georgia is hosting a number of officials from Hollywood film producing companies HBO and Universal Pictures. They have come to Georgia to learn more about the country’s unique filming environment.
The Georgian National Film Center (GNFC) released the first trailer of Shindisi, a film about 17 soldiers who died during the August 2008 Georgia-Russia war.
Georgian director Dito Tsintsadze’s latest work Inhale-Exhale has won the Shanghai International Film Festival. Debuting in the competition at the major regional festival, the film is Tsintsadze’s first work in two decades shot solely in Georgia, and follows a story by acclaimed Georgian author Nestan (Nene) Kvikinadze.
Georgia and China are strengthening ties in the field of cinema industry, signing a memorandum to start joint production and support distribution of Georgian movies in China.
Georgia has selected a film titled ‘Shindisi’ to be presented for the Oscar nomination today. The film, directed by Georgian film director Dimitri Tsintsadze, is about the 2008 August War as it took place in the village of Shindisi, which is located in the vicinity of the Russia-occupied Tskhinvali region, Georgia.
