Georgia receives $143 mln in remittances in June 2019

Georgia received $143.6 million from abroad in June 2019, which is 6.3% more than the amount in June 2018, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Russia ($34.78 million), Italy ($19.30 million) and Greece ($17.08 million) were the largest remittance senders in June 2019.

Overall, the vast majority (93.4%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 17 countries.

After Russia, Italy and, Greece other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in June 2019 included:

  • United States – $15.29 million
  • Israel – $13.38 million
  • Turkey – $7.56 million
  • Germany – $4.04 million
  • Spain – $4.20 million
  • Ukraine – $3.33 million
  • Poland – $2.89 million
  • France – $2.40 million
  • Azerbaijan – $1.67 million
  • Kazakhstan – $2.18 million
  • Kyrgyzstan – $2.05 million
  • United Kingdom – $1.39 million
  • Cyprus – $1.42 million
  • Canada – $1.23 million

In June 2019, remittances leaving Georgia totalled $17.5 million, as compared to $17.9 million in June 2018.
