As the country celebrates its 25th Independence Day with festive events in capital Tbilisi and in its regions, Georgia is enjoying messages of congratulations sent from world leaders and different cities all over the world.

The famous ‘Manneken Pis’ statue in Brussels was dressed today in Georgia’s national costume, Chokha. Tourists visiting Belgium’s capital city today were given a rare chance to take a picture with the "Georgian” fountain of the small boy.

Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced historical buildings in several international cities will be lit up in the colours of Georgia’s national flag – red and white. The list includes the bridge over the Bosporus in Istanbul, the highest ‘Kingdom Tower’ of Saudi Arabia, the old building of Parliament in Australian capital Canberra and the famous Elisabeth Bridge (Erzsébet híd) in Budapest, Hungary.
Linas Linkevicius, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated Georgia on his official Twitter account. His message included the image of Lithuania’s well-known moment illuminated in Georgia’s national colours.

While his Ministry published on its Twitter accounts images which show how Lithuanians celebrate Georgia's Independence Day in Vilnius.

Lithuania’s president Dalia Grybauskaite also shared on her Twitter account a picture of how Lithuanians join the celebrations in Georgia. She wrote "Long live Georgia” in Georgian language in her message.

Meanwhile the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also congratulated Georgia on its special day by publishing a poster with the Georgian flag on his official Facebook account.

Georgia’s Prime Minister received a letter of congratulations from his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade.
"I am sure that the collaboration and traditional ties between our nations will continue and strengthen,” reads the message.
Georgia's President Giorgi Margvelashvili also received the worlds of congratulations on the occasion from Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden, his holiness Pope Francis, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and from the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
Georgia’s Foreign Ministry announced Georgia’s diplomatic missions all over the world will hold concerts, exhibitions and receptions to involve more people in the celebration of the day, which is so important to Georgia.
