Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday met Darius Vitkauskas, the newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania to the country, to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation prospects.
The officials also discussed security matters in the wider region as well as Russia's ongoing military aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for European security, the Parliament said.
Samkharadze briefed Vitkauskas on the “grave situation” in the country’s Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), the domestic policy of the Government and processes ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26.
