Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Thursday met representatives from the Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air in Tbilisi to discuss cooperation, the Ministry of Economy announced.
The state body said the meeting discussed the possibility of a further expansion of Wizz Air operations in the country's western Kutaisi International Airport, where the company has been operating since opening its first South Caucasus base in 2016.
The Minister also welcomed Wizz Air's decision to add five more flights from Kutaisi airport to Madrid, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Poznań starting from June 1. Wizz Air will also station its third jet at the airport.
Currently, the airline has two jets based in Kutaisi and operates flights to 22 destinations.
