A new three-year plan of natural gas delivery to communities has been approved by the Government, with the move expected to bring access to 39,698 subscribers in 244 communities across the country between 2022-2024, the Government Administration announced on Tuesday.

The Georgian Gas Transportation Company will spend ₾135 million ($48 mln) on the latest round of the long-running initiative to bring access to the resource to localities in the country that have not previously had gas infrastructure or service.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has already signed a decree that increases allocation of funds for the design and construction of the infrastructure for the communities.

The Government Administration said financial resources would be solicited by the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy, with the relevant spending to be reflected in budgets for 2022-2024, while design and construction works would be funded from the state budget allocations for 2023.
