Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili thanked Svenja Schulze, the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, for the assistance provided by Germany to the country and for the “strong support” of Georgia’s European integration, the Ministry announced on Thursday.
In a meeting between the officials, Schulze, who is on an official visit to Georgia, reiterated her “full support” for Georgia and expressed hope the country would be able to implement the reform agenda and continue to move “strongly towards” EU integration with the involvement of international partners.
Additionally, the sides pledged to further expand cooperation and noted Georgian-German relations would remain at a high level.
The officials also stressed the importance of ongoing and planned measures for the country's energy security and energy independence, pointing out the efforts made by Germany and the EU to strengthen energy efficiency in the country.
The Ministry also said Khutsishvili had also commented on the role of international financial institutions in Georgia’s development, and briefed the German Minister on the current state of the country's economy and planned structural reforms
