Russia's aggression has “failed to stop” Georgia from moving towards Europe, and the newly created “window of opportunity” is the European Union's “rightful response” to this aggression, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said on Thursday in a meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod.
Zourabichvili and Kofod discussed the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, the situation in the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia, the developments in the Black Sea and South Caucasus regions, the process of Georgia's accession to the European Union, bilateral relations and the role of unity of small countries in dealing with global challenges, the Presidential Administration said.
The top Danish diplomat reiterated his full support for Georgia's territorial integrity, sovereignty and European integration, saying “Georgia is a European country with a place in the European family.”
Zourabichvili noted it was “important” for the Black Sea to be “a sea of stability and unity, not of confrontation”.
Jeppe Kofod underlined Denmark appreciated Georgia's support for international resolutions concerning Ukraine.
