The Coordination Council has decided to let nightclubs in Georgia hold events on December 31 and January 1, the Georgian government administration reports.
A limited number of guests will be allowed at the events, the administration says.
The statement of the government also says that compliance with the regulations ’will be strictly supervised.’
The government decided not to open nightclubs across the country due to rising cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus on December 22 after which Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze pledged to support and assist nightclub businesses on December 24.
Despite the government’s decision, a total of 22 nightclub owners stated that they will continue to operate with Covid regulations observed to ‘avoid their physical destruction.’
Tbilisi City Hall allocated two million GEL for about 500 artists in the electronic and club music industry in March of this year.
Nightclubs in Georgia have been closed for almost two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
