Georgia reports 1,186 new cases of coronavirus, Tbilisi on top of list

Georgia has reported 1,186 new cases of coronavirus and seven deaths in the past 24 hours. 

Tbilisi is on the top of the list of the most hard-hit areas with 469 cases, followed by the country’s coastal Adjara region with 360 cases. 

Georgian hospitals are able to admit an additional 972 patients as of today.

The new 1,186 cases were recorded in: 

  • Tbilisi - 469 cases 
  • Adjara region - 360 cases 
  • Imereti - 99 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 78 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 15 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 73 cases 
  • Kakheti - 46 cases
  • Guria - 25 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 14 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 7 cases

Restrictions will be partly removed for the Adjara region starting today through the resumption of public transport, while restaurants and entertainment venues will be closed at 22:00 p.m. 

Only in-person lab and practical activities have been resumed at Georgian universities starting today.

Ruling Georgian Dream party MPs Nino Tsilosani and Genadi Margvelashvili have stated earlier today that they have tested positive for coronavirus. 

Georgia has had 18,663 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

Since then 8,338 patients have recovered, while 143 have died. 

As of today 10,182 patients remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia. 

Younger patients who suffer from a mild form of the virus are undergoing treatment in hotels.
