One applicant who took a university entrance exam on July 7 has tested positive for the coronavirus, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze confirmed earlier today.
He said that the teenage girl suffers from a mild form of the virus and is now undergoing treatment.
Gamkrelidze stated that all nine applicants who took the exam with the girl, as well as the personnel of the National Exam Centre who supervised the entrants during the exam, are under the supervision of doctors.
We had communication with the National Exam Centre late yesterday and all preventive measures have been taken. All individuals have been identified who took the exam with the infected teenager (in the same room). The entrants will be able to take all other exams in line with rules - they are likely to be placed in quarantine and will be tested for the coronavirus prior to exams,” Gamkrelidze said.
National exams for university applicants started on July six in Georgia and will end on July 25.
Only 10 exam takers are allowed in a room. Tables stand two meters part, and there is a special, transparent barrier in front of each table.
The exam takers have to wear face masks before they sit at the table.
The college applicants’ works will be checked only after passing two weeks from the exam day.
