Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s advisor for strategic communications Irakli Chikovani will also serve as the PM’s spokesperson.
PM Gakharia has stated earlier today that the new position “will increase the quality of the government’s communication with the public and media.”
Chikovani was appointed as the PM’s advisor back in December 2018.
Between 2012 and 2016 he was an MP in parliament as a member of the Free Democrats party.
He left the party and active politics after the 2016 parliamentary elections and had served as an independent expert and was involved in the UNDP and USAID projects before his appointment at the government’s administration last year.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has left for Turkey for a one-day visit to meet with top Turkish officials in Ankara, the government of Georgia press office reports. Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani, Economy Minister Natia Turnava and the PM’s advisor for foreign affairs Irakli Chikovani are accompanying Gakharia.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, who has launched his tour with neighbouring countries by visiting Azerbaijan, has told Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that the “visit will once again show our allies and friends that there are no problems between the two countries which have not been settled in a friendly and brotherly manner.”
Officials and politicians in Georgia have assessed the recent meeting of the Georgian and Russian Foreign Ministers in New York, which is the first since Georgia suspended its diplomatic ties with Russia following the Russia-Georgia war in 2008.
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini named the Frankfurt Book Fair, where Georgia had been participated with the status of honourable guest, among the major events of 2018.
