Russia is conducting military exercises in Georgia’s occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, Russian media outlets report.
The exercises began today in the Volgograd and Rostov Regions, in the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, in Adygea, Ingushetia, Dagestan, North Ossetia, as well as in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia, the Caucasian Knot reports.
50 aircrafts and helicopters, 2,000 different types of military vehicles, 20 drones and 10,000 soldiers are involved in the exercises.
Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions have only been recognised as independent states by Russia, Venezuela, Nikaragua, Nauru and Syria since the Russia-Georgia 2008 war.
The rest of the international community is unanimous in that the regions are occupied by Russia and the country must withdraw its troops from Georgian territory.
