The Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Aaron Wess Mitchell is going to visit Georgia and provide a keynote address at a NATO-Georgia public diplomacy forum to be held in Tbilisi on April 30 – May 1st.
During his visit Dr. Mitchell will meet with senior government officials as well as with other political leaders, representatives of civil society, and the American Chamber of Commerce to reinforce U.S. support for Georgia’s aspirations to integrate into Euro-Atlantic institutions.
Dr. Mitchell is attending the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Brussels today with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Dr. Mitchell had a phone conversation with the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili on March 8, during which Mitchell praised Georgia as the regional leader in reforms. During the conversation the two leaders discussed bilateral US-Georgia defense cooperation, Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and the US role in the consolidation of support for Georgia ahead of the upcoming NATO Summit.
