President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has granted honorary Georgian citizenship to the President of the US National Democratic Institute (NDI) Kenneth Wollack during his visit in Washington today.
The ceremony was attended by US officials, representatives from the civil sector and the analytical field.
Margvelashvili thanked the audience for their support to Georgia. The president showed particular gratitude to NDI chairperson and former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who attended the event with Wollak.

Georgian citizenship is a status which means devoution to the Georgian nation until the end of life,” Margvelashvili stated.
The Georgian President recalled his previous work at the NDI office in Georgia and stated that the time spent there influenced his life.
I learnt there how effective democracy is, how important details are and how the details can be carried out in reality,” Margvelashvili said.
Albright stated that the Georgian people have many times proved their devotion to democratic values.

Margvelashvili has already met with Senator Dick Durbin, Congressman Kevin McCarthy and Ted Poe to discuss Georgia-US relations and speak about the Russian occupation of Georgian territories.
Margvelashvili and the US lawmakers paid particular attention to Archil Tatunashvili’s case.
