The Russia-controlled border guards have abducted a 28-year-old Georgian citizen Paata Arakelov in the village of Akhrisi, Gori municipality, near the occupation line with the country’s occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, the Radio Liberty says.
The media outlet reports that the government of Georgia has already informed the European Union Monitoring Mission over the illegal detention for crossing of so-called border with Tskhinvali.
The Russia-controlled border guards kidnap Georgian citizens quite often and in most cases release them after paying a fine.
The fine amounts to 2,000 Russian rubles (31 USD).
The Georgian occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali were recognised as independent states by Russia after the Russia-Georgia 2008 war.
