Georgian energy ombudsman Salome Vardiashvili has urged the public to ensure the safety of their heating devices in anticipation of the incoming winter season across the country.

Vardiashvili noted cases of gas heating devices being installed incorrectly both in capital Tbilisi and other regions of the country, with the actions leading to the risk of carbon monoxide leaks.

She also noted the Tbilisi Energy gas supply company was offering free safety checks of devices for citizens throughout the city.

Residents of the capital can use Tbilisi Energy hotline 2 40 40 04 or 114 to inquire about the service.
